The Running Man

Synopsis / සාරාංශය

Many people remember the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film "The Running Man." However, this latest adaptation, released in November 2025, is a dark and realistic dystopian creation that is closer to the original novel by Stephen King (under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) than the old film. It is directed by Edgar Wright, who created fashionable films such as 'Baby Driver' and 'Last Night in Soho', and stars Glen Powell, one of the busiest stars in Hollywood today. The story is built around a cruel television show in the future. A man (Glen Powell), who is in the midst of economic hardship and social pressures, joins this deadly game in the hope of a cash prize. Unlike the old film, this is not limited to one building or arena. According to the rules, the contestants are allowed to hide anywhere in the world. But they are pursued by professional killers (Hunters) hired to kill them and the entire audience. This is not just an action movie. This is a political thriller that questions the media culture, the society that sees violence as entertainment, and the value of human life. Edgar Wright's fast editing style and dark comedy style keep the audience hooked throughout this 2 hour and 13 minute long film. Glen Powell wonderfully portrays how he starts out as an ordinary man and gradually becomes someone who will do anything to survive.
