Keeper

Synopsis / සාරාංශය

Director Osgood Perkins, who brought a unique, psychological and unsettling dimension to modern horror cinema with films like 'Longlegs', is back to scare audiences with 2025's 'Keeper'. Produced by a production company known for its artistic and independent films like NEON, this is a slow-paced but intense experience that breaks the boundaries of traditional 'horror'. The film's story revolves around a seemingly ordinary event. A couple travels to a secluded cabin in the woods to celebrate their romantic anniversary. While this is a classic opening for many horror films, Perkins takes it on a completely different tack. Their romantic getaway turns into a nightmare when a "haunting past" and a dark presence emerge from the property. Starring Tatiana Maslany and Rossif Sutherland, of 'Orphan Black' and 'She-Hulk' fame, the film's lead roles are well-executed, with their performances highlighting the psychological depth and complexity of the relationships in the film. Classified under a number of genres, including "Body Horror", "Folk Horror", "Monster Horror", and "Psychological Horror", "Keeper" is more than just a horror film. It is a dark exploration of human relationships, broken trust, and the impact of the past on the present. The quiet, eerie atmosphere, and sudden, shocking imagery that are characteristic of Osgood Perkins' cinema are evident throughout the film. "Keeper" is a cinematic experience that is more like a slow poison that paralyzes the viewer's mind than a quick scare.
