Katti’s Gang
Anakatti is a beautiful village. For the first time in the history of this village, Rajinikanth’s film ‘Baasha’ is getting ready to be screened. Everyone in the village, especially Anand Bhasha’s father Ramasamy, is very excited about this. Even though Ramasamy is a bank teller, everyone is told that he acted in the film ‘Baasha’. It is a tradition to screen this film every year at Thevar Kovil Vattha. Anand’s dream is to become the first film director in Anakatti.
Anand is in a group with his friends, Piyush (everyone calls him Pihatu), Chiraku, Gomez, Simon, they call each other ‘Katti’. They have fun together, and sometimes drink a little alcohol.
One day, Anand goes to make a film and gets into a lot of trouble. A person he trusted cheats the producer, takes the money and runs away, blaming Anand for the mistake. Since Anand had borrowed money from a moneylender named Chettiar, Chettiar comes looking for Anand. He comes to Anand’s house and threatens his father Ramasamy that if he does not give the money within ten days, he will kill Anand.
Scared by this, Ramasamy tries to rob the bank where he works and get the money. But he is caught by the police. The security guard gives evidence that he saw Ramasamy at the bank. The police arrest Ramasamy.
Meanwhile, Anand finds the stolen gold. He hides the goods in the temple to save his father. But the police come to search the temple. Anand barely escapes from the police.
Anand and his friend Chiraku flee to Chennai to escape this problem. When they try to sell the stolen gold, they are caught by the police again, but at the last moment a man named Guru comes and saves them.
It is later revealed that Guru is the one behind the bank robbery. He has done all this to make money for a film by his actress sister. Guru betrays Chiraku and Anand. But in the end, the police arrest Guru and his gang, and Anand and Ramasamy are released.
After these events, Anand starts making his first film, “Katty’s Gang”, which is based on the real life story of his friends. He realizes that ‘katty’ is not just a word, it is about true friendship and helping each other.
