Damien’s entire world revolved around one dream: to become the greatest athlete the world has ever seen. His bedroom walls were covered with posters of one man—that of Asher Vance, a living legend in the world of sports. Asher was the epitome of speed and strength, and Damien dreamed every night of being like him.
One fine day, Damien’s dream took the first step toward becoming a reality. He received a call from Asher himself. Asher invited him to train privately under him at his high-tech training facility in the mountains, a world apart from his own. Damien felt like a gift from God. Being mentored by his own hero was the greatest blessing of his life.
The first few weeks passed like a dream. Asher’s training sessions were extremely rigorous, but his charming personality and encouragement kept Damien motivated. “Greatness doesn’t come without pain, son,” Asher would often say. Damien treated his teacher like a father figure and believed his every word implicitly.
But gradually, that dream began to turn into a nightmare. The training sessions became unusual, painful, and sometimes brutal torture. Asher completely isolated Damien from the outside world.
