General Joseph Campbell is preparing to retire and is considering entering politics. Meanwhile, Sergeant White (disguised as Brenner) is secretly investigating an arms deal. In a twist of fate, he accidentally meets the general’s daughter, Captain Elizabeth Campbell.
But not long after, Elizabeth is found brutally murdered and apparently raped. White/Brenner and Agent Sarah Sunhill begin investigating this mysterious death.
As the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that Elizabeth’s life is more complicated than she thought. She has been keeping secret recordings and is hiding a dark secret from her past: she was gang-raped years ago at West Point Military Academy, which was covered up by her superiors.
Suspicion falls on several officers who had contact with Elizabeth or who were involved in covering up the murder, including Colonel Moore and Colonel Fowler. Colonel Moore dies in an apparent suicide.
It is further revealed that General Campbell knew that his daughter had been raped and ordered it to be covered up to protect the reputation of the army and the academy.
Ultimately, the real killer is revealed to be Captain Kent. He killed Elizabeth out of fear that she would expose his connections with the general’s staff, including himself, and the West Point incident. With all these secrets being revealed, many questions arise about the honor and justice of the army.
