This story is about Sal Gostello. He was called the “Burnsfield Bull”. He is a boxer. The story begins with one of his important fights. According to the commentators, Sal fought well, but unexpectedly lost in the sixth round after being hit hard by his opponent. This defeat had a big impact on his life.
Over time, Sal’s life changes. He no longer depends on boxing. Instead, he works in a nursing home (Golden Brook). Although he has a good relationship with the residents, such as Victor, he has problems with some of the staff and management. His personal life is also chaotic. He has a girlfriend named Faye, but she finds out that Sal is married and has a daughter named Molly. This causes problems between them. Sal’s daughter Molly is also angry with him. Although he visits her on her birthday, they have a distant relationship. Sal’s wife Elaine has set a date for him to visit their daughter, but she forbids him from visiting her because he is breaking the law. Meanwhile, Victor’s death and work problems cause Sal to lose his job.
In the midst of this crisis, Sal meets up with an old friend, Vince. Vince is now an illegal fight organizer. Although Sal initially refuses, Sal needs money so he joins Vince’s business. He is forced to participate in a dangerous, no-rules fight. Sal stops the fight midway, causing Vince to lose a lot of money.

In the meantime, Sal gets a chance to compete in a legal boxing match. His trainer, Wally, and daughter Molly support him. But due to theft, Sal is unable to make it to the match in time. The story ends with Sal finally running to the match venue. It is unclear what his future holds.
