The story revolves around a jewel thief, Rehan Roy. He has been hiding from the police and the Special Task Force (STF) for years, stealing priceless objects from museums around the world. The story begins at a rare art auction in Alibaug. There, a painting called “Medicine by Gustav Klimt”, believed to have been lost during World War II, is on display. The auction host, Rajan Aulakh, is a famous art curator and a former underworld figure. Due to a mistake made by his accountant Mehta, the details of Rajan’s offshore accounts are leaked to Interpol, causing Rajan to lose 200 crores. As a result, Rajan kills Mehta.
Meanwhile, the most valuable diamond in Africa, the “Red Sun”, is to be exhibited at the Fortcrest Art Centre in Mumbai. Rajan Aulakh decides to seek Rehan’s help in stealing the diamond. Rehan’s father is an honest doctor, and he has ostracized Rehan from the family, considering him a thief. Rajan, through Rehan’s brother Aavi, threatens to donate illegal money to Rehan’s father’s hospital and inform the authorities about the money. Rehan agrees to return to India to meet Rajan to save his father.
Rajan tells Rehan to steal the “Red Sun” diamond from the Fortcrest Art Center. The security system of the art center is very advanced, and Rajan’s wife Farah also works there. Rehan, with the help of Farah and Rajan’s assistants (Chunky and Salim), plans to enter the art center and steal the password. However, STF officer Vikram Patel and his team try to arrest Rehan, and Rehan’s plan is thwarted.
Again influenced by Rajan, Rehan comes up with a new plan: to steal the diamond from a commercial flight carrying it. With the help of the flight crew and a fake doctor, he has the plane diverted to Istanbul by feigning a fake medical emergency. He then steals the diamond from the plane’s vault.
However, Rehan tricks Rajan. He steals a fake diamond, and smuggles the real “Red Sun” diamond out safely through another accomplice (Simon Jarvis). Rehan traps Rajan and his accomplice in Istanbul with another criminal named Moza, and escapes with Farah. Finally, news comes that Rajan Awlaki has died in an explosion in Istanbul. While Rehan and Farah plan to start a new life, Farah realizes that Rehan has not yet given up his life as a “jewel thief”.
