Freaky Stories
On a dark night in Oakland in 1987, four stories unfold, each one overlapping. As the wave of rap music sweeps through the city, the characters become entangled in their own stories, clashing with the harsh realities of life and sometimes being influenced by mysterious forces.
Story One: Tina and Lucid are two teenagers who love punk rock music. They come into conflict with a group of Nazi youths who break into the Gilman club they frequent. Amidst these violent clashes, a delicate bond develops between Tina and Lucid. In the end, they manage to confront the Nazis together and drive them away.
Story Two: Barbie and Entice (Danger Zone) are two young women who dream of becoming rappers. They get an unexpected opportunity to perform on stage with famous rapper Too $Short. Although initially despised, they even defeat Too $Short in a rap battle. They prove their skills in the face of gender-based insults and obstacles.
Third story: Clint is a former hired hand who is now trying to live a normal life. He has started a new life with his pregnant wife Grace. But his creditors from the past are after him. In one of the fights, his wife is killed. However, he learns that their baby daughter survived. Giving up the chance to take revenge or die, he decides to live for his daughter. He decides not to identify his father’s killer (the son of another character) during a police identification parade. In the end, he refuses to give them the money, ready to accept all the consequences, in the face of threats from the creditors.
Story Four: Sleepy Floyd is a talented player on the Golden State Warriors basketball team. He performs brilliantly, setting a scoring record in one game. But that same night, his and the other players’ homes are robbed by a criminal named “The Guy”. During the robbery at Sleepy’s home, his girlfriend Andrea is murdered. Based on a tip-off from Tina and Lucid, Sleepy, as if by some mysterious power (perhaps under the influence of the psychic workshop he attended called Cytopics), takes a sword and violently kills all the criminals, including his girlfriend’s killers and “The Guy”. He does not harm Clint’s baby daughter.
These four stories intertwine through a chain of dark, violent, and sometimes mysterious events that unfold over one night in the city of Oakland, leaving the audience with an extraordinary experience.
