The story begins in Iraq in 2015. Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch), a member of the Navy SEAL team, fights terrorism alongside James Reese (Chris Pratt). Edwards is a skilled and fearless soldier on the battlefield. His only goal is to protect his fellow soldiers and successfully complete assigned missions. However, his military career is turned upside down when he refuses to follow an unethical order from his superiors. This incident leads to his dismissal from the Navy SEAL team.
Edwards, deprived of his military service, is torn from the world he has ever known. At a time when his life is lost and without purpose, he is sought out by Jed Haverford (Robert Wisdom), a mysterious CIA officer. Haverford recognizes Edwards’ talents and dark side and tries to recruit him for covert operations within the CIA. Edwards is attracted by Haverford’s promise that he can make a real difference, without being bound by political restrictions or military rules.
Along this new path, he also meets his old colleague, Ralph Hastings (Tom Hopper). Together, the two engage in dangerous missions for the CIA around the world. Through these missions, Edwards experiences the brutality of war and the brutal reality of espionage. He gradually lets the “Dark Wolf” within him, blurring his moral boundaries.
