In the mid-18th century, Europe was in turmoil. In order to strengthen the alliance between Austria and France, it was decided to marry the Austrian Empress Marie Antoinette to the Crown Prince of France, Louis. In May 1770, the young bride arrived in France. She was a beautiful, cheerful young woman, but she was not very impressed with her future husband, Prince Louis.
Meanwhile, there was a remarkable figure named Oscar Françoise Gerges, a captain in the French Royal Guard. Although she was a woman, she had been raised as a man and had joined the Royal Guard. Oscar was devoted to the protection of Princess Marie Antoinette, and André Grandier, a servant and friend since her childhood, was loyal to Oscar.
After Marie Antoinette became Queen of France, she lived a luxurious life, but she felt lonely and isolated. At a masquerade party, she met the handsome Swedish Count Axel von Fersen. They fell deeply in love, but her status as queen meant she had to keep it a secret. Fersen left France, fearing that it would damage the queen’s reputation.
Meanwhile, the economic situation in France was deteriorating, and the people were suffering. Marie Antoinette’s excessive spending and luxurious lifestyle were becoming increasingly unpopular. Oscar warned the queen about the situation, but she ignored him.
André went to protect Oscar during a fight in Paris and was severely injured and blinded in one eye. Shocked by this incident, Oscar, realizing the suffering of the common people, decided to transfer to the French Guard (made up of ordinary people). André also joined her. Although Oscar faced opposition from the soldiers, she won their respect with her skill and honesty.
When the French Revolution began, Oscar and the French Guard joined the people. At the Battle of the Tuileries Palace, André died defending Oscar. The next day, Oscar, who led the storming of the Bastille, also died in battle. She died wishing for freedom, equality, and fraternity for France.
This story is a touching story of three people: Marie Antoinette, Oscar, and André, who searched for their destiny amidst love, duty, sacrifice, and revolutionary changes.
