Other Cops

In the city that never sleeps, New York, there was a thin line between law and lawlessness. On that line lived two of the city’s heroic detectives, Danson and Highsmith. They were like rock stars; sharp shooters, drivers, and always the darlings of the ladies. Even though they caught suspects with small amounts of marijuana, causing millions in property damage, the city cheered them on.

But in the shadow of these heroes, there were also “other cops” who were stuck in the office, stuck in the files and paperwork. They were Alan Gamble and Terry Hoyts. Gamble was a meticulous, forensic accountant. He had even audited his parents’ accounts once. Terry Hoyts was a quick-tempered man. He once shot the famous baseball player Derek Jeter by mistake, nicknamed the “Yankee Clipper.” He was deeply disappointed that he had to partner with Gamble.

After Danson and Highsmith foolishly jumped off a building and killed themselves, the city needed new heroes. Terry wanted to take the place, but Gamble said that it was more important for millions of socially conscious citizens to act together.

Meanwhile, Gamble was investigating a construction permit scam. Although it seemed like a trivial matter, it led them to billionaire investor David Arshon. Arshon was involved in a huge financial scam. He had lost a huge amount of money from a huge company called Lendl Global, and was planning to steal the police pension fund to cover the losses.

As Gamble and Hoyts try to uncover the truth, they encounter many obstacles. Arshon’s lawyer and security team (including Australian mercenaries) kidnap them, stealing their weapons and even their shoes. Even their police chief, Mouch, tries to cover up the case due to high-level influence.

Under pressure, Gamble reveals a secret from his past to Terry: he used to work as a pimp in college under the name “Gator.” This experience has made him try very hard to stay within the bounds of the law.

In the end, against all odds, Gamble and Hoyts are able to expose Arshon and Lendl Global’s fraud. They engage in a deadly race to save the police pension fund. Amidst gunfights, car chases, and explosions, these two “other cops” become the city’s true heroes. They were real heroes, not seen on television, not on the front pages of newspapers, but who quietly saved the city.
