The story begins with a conversation between a father and his son. The two enter a cave and play a game. There, the father has molested his son. They then join a group outside the cave, and the father gives them a sermon. In the meantime, another group of people come and chat with them in a friendly manner. Then the father congratulates a woman named Rosa on her baptism. Then a crisis arises between them. After this incident, Elliot’s behavior changes. He becomes unexplainably ill, and his mother believes that it is due to the influence of the shaman. Joel (the father) denies it, saying that it is a normal virus. However, his wife, Candice, denies this, and tells the father that he is sick because of something the shaman did to her son. The father meets with Elliot and tries to heal him. But Elliot tells Father that he is sick and that the Father’s actions have caused this situation. Meanwhile, the Shaman arrives and accuses the Father. He says that the Father’s religious beliefs are built on lies. He says that the Father has false, unfounded beliefs.
Since the Father and the family do not want to argue with the Shaman, the Shaman says that he can control his son’s spirit if he wants to. Meanwhile, the Father and his family are told to leave the area. Although they want to go, they are unable to do so due to the Shaman’s influence. The Father tries to fight the Shaman by citing the Bible, but it is useless. The Shaman continues to say that the Father is lying and cheating. He also hints that he has influenced his son. The father then remembers his past and tells the shaman that he is willing to die for his son.
Finally, the father tells his son that he will have to be baptized, as he is under the shaman’s influence. Through these events, the father’s soul is gradually purified, and he is able to free himself from the shaman’s influence. The story ends with the father and his son’s bond being re-established.
