“The Night of the Forest”
The story begins with Bichu’s birthday party on a beautiful evening and narrates the members of the Weapons Society and their dark past. The Weapons Society is a palace built by the British, which was later taken over by Tipu Sultan. Over time, it became a hunting society.
While a secretary named Avaran and his group are preparing to go hunting, a couple from Mangalore arrive at the society. The couple have escaped and their families are searching for them.
At night, a Mangalore businessman named Dayananda and his group surround the society. His son has died and he has come for revenge. A fierce gunfight ensues between the members of the society and the invaders.
The members of the society defeat their enemies using their old firearms. Eventually, Dayananda and Avaran come face to face. Avaran wins and saves the society.
The story offers a profound portrayal of hunting, family ties, revenge, and honor. It depicts the clash between the ancient hunting traditions of the Western Highlands and the modern world.
