Overlord: The Story of the Sacred Kingdom
Once upon a time, there was a peaceful land called the Sacred Kingdom of Roble. It was located on a peninsula southwest of the Re-Estize Kingdom, and was surrounded by a massive wall to protect it from the half-human tribes that lived in the Abelian Mountains. One day, Sergeants Baraja and Orlando were on guard duty when they saw a large number of half-humans – snakemen, ogres, amats, and others – coming to invade the kingdom.
The leader of this invasion was the fearsome demon emperor Jaldabaoth. He used a tenth-level spell, ‘Meteor Fall’, to demonstrate his power, destroying part of the Sacred Kingdom’s massive protective wall. With this attack, the kingdom was gripped by fear.
The kingdom’s paladins, including Grandmaster Remedios Custodio and her sister, the high priestess Kelart Custodio, rise up to fight Jaldabaoth. They are joined by the sacred queen Calca. After a fierce battle, the paladins are forced to retreat in the face of Jaldabaoth’s overwhelming power, and Queen Calca and Kelart are captured or disappear.
The survivors, including Grandmaster Remedios, Vice-Captain Gustav, and the young squire Neya Baraja, daughter of Sergeant Baraja, decide to seek help from King Ainz Ul Gowne of the magical kingdom, who is believed to be the only one who can defeat Jaldabaoth. They embark on a difficult journey to the magical kingdom. King Ainz welcomes them there, but says that he cannot send Mormon, a powerful hero who is protecting his kingdom. However, King Ainz agrees to personally come and fight Jaldabaoth if he gives him the demonic servants possessed by Jaldabaoth.
Neya Baraja is appointed as King Ainz’s consort. Although she is initially afraid to travel with an immortal king, she gains deep respect and trust for Ainz’s wisdom, foresight, and kindness to all races (even demi-humans). King Ainz recognizes Neya’s skill in archery and gifts her with a powerful bow called the ‘Ultimate Shooting Star Super’.
King Ainz and the Sacred Kingdom’s army fight to liberate the city of Loitz. There, Ainz uses a cruel tactic to show the enemy that using hostages is useless, instead of rescuing a child taken as a hostage. This causes a rift between Neya and Remedios. Neya sees Ainz’s actions as cruel, but the right decision to save the lives of many, and realizes that “weakness without strength is a sin” and that strength is needed to serve justice.
They free the prisoners, including the orcs who opposed Jaldabaoth and Prince Caspond, the brother of the Sacred Queen. Under the leadership of Prince Caspond, they fight back against Jaldabaoth’s forces. During the battle, Jaldabaoth returns, using Queen Calca’s body as a weapon and mentally breaking Remedios.
King Ainz engages Jaldabaoth and his demonic servants. After a fierce battle, Ainz defeats Jaldabaoth, but he too seems to have disappeared due to the fierceness of the battle. Neya and the others mourn, but King Ainz returns in glory, claiming to have taken control of the Abelian Mountains, along with a large half-human army. He easily defeats the final enemy, Jaldabaoth (who has come in another guise).
Finally, King Ainz gifts Neya with the weapons he lent him, and departs for his kingdom with a demon maid named CZ. Neya, with unwavering devotion to King Ainz, spreads his message of “justice” throughout the Sacred Realm. Behind the scenes, Jaldabaoth (aka Demiurge) and Prince Caspond (a doppelganger controlled by Demiurge) are plotting to incite the Sacred Realm into internal warfare, ultimately annexing it to the Magical Realm.
