Love Hurts – A Valentine’s Day Story
“What I love most about Valentine’s Day is the anticipation of the unexpected. Something magical can happen. Maybe that special someone will come back into your life. It will change things for the better…”
On Valentine’s Day morning in Milwaukee, a man named Marvin Gable begins his daily routine. He is a real estate agent for Frontier Realty. Marvin is deeply committed to his profession.
“I find people homes because I feel the need. I know the freedom and security that comes with buying a home for the first time. I don’t say my signature line for nothing – ‘Frontier Realty, we’re finding you a home.'”
But there is a secret from Marvin’s past that he has pushed far from his memory. His real name is not Marvin Gable. In a previous life, he worked as an assassin for a criminal organization called the Newers. His brother, Alvin “Knuckles”, is the head of this criminal organization.
On Valentine’s Day morning, Marvin receives a cryptic message when he arrives at the office. It is from his girlfriend, Rose. However, Rose is thought to have died or been murdered some time ago.
Rose, a lawyer for the Newers organization, was suspected of a financial transaction involving their organization three years ago. Knuckles ordered Marvin to give her the death penalty according to the organization’s rules. However, Marvin helped her escape safely without killing her because of his love for Rose.
Marvin then decided to distance himself from his brother and live a good life. He changed his life and became a real estate agent. He has now won the regional real estate agent award.
On this Valentine’s Day, Rose returns. She reminds Marvin of her past and asks for Marvin’s help in getting their lives back together.
Rose reveals that the organization had a plan to steal $4 million, and that Merlo and Kippy are planning to push Rose out of the plan. Although Rose had $2 million in the trunk of her car, Merlo kept the other $2 million for himself.
Now Rose has returned and is threatening Knuckles and his organization with Valentine’s Day cards. She plans to expose Merlo’s theft and protect their lives from Knuckles.
Meanwhile, Knuckles enters Marvin’s life and kills his boss, Cliff, in an attempt to bring Marvin back to him. Another assassin named “Raven” is also assigned to track down Rose and Marvin, while Merlo, Otis, and King also try to kill them.
While showing a house to a couple named Marvin Reber in Emerald Springs, the gang comes to attack them. Jeff Sachs, a competitor at Peck Point Realty, helps Marvin and fights them off.
Marvin and Rose finally decide to go to a place called LKP. There, they are able to expose Merlo’s theft and reveal that Knuckles has been embezzling money from Russian businessmen for a while. They are able to turn the Russians against Knuckles.
Marvin finally faces a decisive battle with Knuckles. “I’m not your brother, you used me as an assassin!” Marvin says. After Marvin defeats Knuckles, he and Rose are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives.
“I love you, I always have,” Marvin tells Rose. Rose begs him to “Say it again, in a way I can believe.”
“As I said, Valentine’s Day is full of unexpected things. It can be a new love, a second chance, or a reason to express the true love that has been there for a long time. No matter how much love hurts, it is incredibly worth it.”
This story of love, revenge, and redemption shows that even for those living in a world of crime, heart-to-heart connections, trust, and love are stronger than any violence in the world. This love that arises between those who meet on Valentine’s Day is as powerful as death, surpasses even sibling ties, and ultimately shows that the freedom and opportunity to live and love is more valuable.
What Marvin’s life story teaches us is that even if we have dark spots in our past, our lives can be changed and renewed through love. Rose’s words remind us that “hiding is not living,” and that in order to find true love and freedom, we must face our past.
