Disabling p:first-of-type

I am seeing a weird phenomenon on one of my Joomla sites that appears to have the behavior of a p:first-of-type or p:nth-of-type styling where the first and second paragraphs in an article have different font sizes. This only appears to happen on mobile devices where an otherwise un-styled "p" ends up rendering with a larger font than the preceding "p".

So my question is, how can this be overridden/disabled without changing the default font for "p"?

I have no idea what to try or how to even determine whether this is what’s going on. So I am hoping there is a way to back-out any existing p:first-of-type in an article-specific style section just to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks in advance,
Bruce
