The story revolves around Sheriff John Dorsey. He begins his day with a hostage situation involving a man named Billy Smith. As the situation escalates, John tries to get Billy to put down the gun and talk. But the situation escalates and ends in a shootout.
Later, a Tipton bank robbery occurs. Meanwhile, an officer named Marshal Hayden is on the trail of a pair of bank robbers and murderers named Kyle and Emily Rusk. Hayden and his team raid the Rusk ranch and arrest Emily. Hayden enlists Sheriff John’s help, but it is revealed that his actions are against the law and that he is operating without official authorization.
Sheriff John’s deputy Danny Race also intervenes in the incident, and clashes occur between John and Danny, and between John and Marshal Hayden’s team. Emily Rusk is also a prisoner, but he manipulates the situation to his advantage. Meanwhile, several local civilians are also killed or injured in the conflict.
Kyle Rusk gathers a group and attacks the farm. A fierce gunfight ensues, and several people, including Marshal Hayden, are killed. In the end, Sheriff John shoots Kyle Rusk dead and arrests Emily Rusk. Marshal Hayden, who is injured, tries to kill Emily, but John prevents him and kills him too. Finally, John, who is injured, stands up and asserts his duty as sheriff.
